About John

Skydiving has been a hobby of mine since 1994.

I have 1000 jumps and enjoy being a part of the community.

Can you see me in the pic above?  I am on the side of the helicopter.

Green pants w/ white shirt.  ;-)

I enjoy taking art photography.  I took the above picture of Big Ben.

I have been a vegan since 2000.  I became a vegan for personal health reasons.  Since that time, my point of view has evolved to consider the environmental aspects of a dietary choice.  I have also come to have compassion for the animals themselves.

I consider myself a decent cook.  You have to be a good cook to get tofu to have any taste at all.  Unfortunately, my presentation skills are dreadful.

Despite the stereotype that characterizes vegans as "angry," I call myself a "joyful vegan" and try my best to project the joy and peace that comes from being fully awake and open.  Listen to Colleen from Compassionate Cooks talk about what it means to be a “joyful vegan”

Most recently I have started walking the path of non-violence.

It started innocently enough by reading a book about how to understand my dog.

The book is called “The Dog Listener” by Jan Fennell

That lead me to reading a book called "Horse Sense for People" by Monty Roberts.

"Horse Sense for People" has so profoundly changed my view of the world, my head spins sometimes.  I have read several of his books and have gone to Flag is Up Farms to take a class lead by him.

Now I am learning about Gandhi.  Stay Tuned.
